What does projector resolution mean, and what is the relationship between display chip and resolution?
Resolutions are divided into standard resolutions and compatible resolutions. Standard resolution refers to the maximum resolution that can present the picture; Compatible resolution refers to the resolution of pictures or videos that can be played by the projector, regardless of the picture resolution. For example, if the projector is compatible with 4k resolution, and its standard resolution is 1080p, it means that it can play 4k video, but the screen resolution of the released video is still 1080p.
Display chip and resolution correlation
The display chip is the chip that provides the image display function of the projector. The larger the size of the display chip, the higher the resolution of the picture. Common projector display chip sizes are 0.23DMD, 0.33DMD, and 0.47DMD.
The native resolution of the 0.23DMD display chip is 480p, the native resolution of the 0.33DMD display chip is 720p, and the native resolution of the 0.47DMD display chip is 1080p. When we buy projectors, we may see that some projectors use a 0.33DMD display chip, but its standard resolution is 1080p, which is achieved by Texas Instruments (TI) XPR pixel shift technology.
The above is all about the meaning of projector resolution and the relationship between display chip and resolution. I hope it will help you.
